I did not do Economic History as a field, nor is my research in Economic History (although I entered grad school expecting to do Economic History and TAed the Economic History undergrad class at my university). I have received ASSA interview requests from more than one school with an "Economic History" job posting.

For those of us who are actually History and have a hard time getting any interviews love this sor tof news!

All is fair in love and war I guess. Mind telling us who the interview was from so I can mark one off my list?

Has anyone heard from Reed?

Anyone hear about the CUNY Queens College job?

Does anyone know if the Stern job is actually real? It seems to have been open for a while.

I'm not on the market this year but was last year - I've heard that Stern posts that opening every year merely to gauge the status of the job market. I know they posted it the last 2 years so would highly doubt that an actual position exists there.

Has anyone heard about the business history job at Harvard b-school?

I heard the same thing about Stern...the process is noisy enough as it is without this kind of activity!

Who are the people applying to the Stanford SIEPR post-doc?

Folks who apply to other faculty jobs and wouldn't mind doing a post-doc before, or people who aren't ready for the job market yet but would like to get out of their Phd?

heard from reed and queens...that's absolutely ridiculous about Stern...guess no hope for that one

There are more economic history openings this year than there are applicants. How many other fields are like that?

sounds good! my friend in econ history always complains about how he'll never get a job. i guess he is just a complaining type of guy.

THat is good news. ALthough, I'd heard that the number of JOE posts exceeds the number of PhD candidates, but that is because assit. professors are also competing for the same ones the rest of us are searching for.
